PTSD is a stress reaction when we experience - or are exposed to - serious accidents and abuse. PTSD is a disorder of the mind that goes away on its own after some time. We stop thinking about the unpleasant experiences. We displace them. We forget.
But sometimes the pain stays in the soul like PTSD. Then we are always on guard. We get angry and furious over minor things. We suffer from poor sleep, bad nerves, hyper attention. Flash backs.
Accidents are a typical cause of PTSD. It could be that you see an accident where people are seriously injured. Or you yourself are in a traffic accident.
Natural disasters. Planes falling down. War. People you love die suddenly and without warning. We are being assaulted. Raped. We are tormented and misused.
Traumatic experiences cause PTSD.
When we have PTSD we can suffer from flashbacks. We relive the unpleasant experiences over and over again. The emotions are intense and often produce physical reactions. We get nightmares.
We prefer to avoid talking about the trauma we have experienced. If it is very bad, we also want to avoid people. That's why you hear about soldiers who live alone in the woods after being at war.
